A member of the All India Medical Students' Association (AIMSA) has slammed Dr Sejal Pawar's remarks on a show, saying it 'maligns' the image of doctors and is disrespectful to their work.

Dr Kanishka Kalra, general secretary of AIMSA's Foreign Medical Students' Wing, flagged the fallout of Dr Pawar's remarks, saying people would rethink donating bodies for 'medical education.'

Dr Pawar was sent on 15 days' forced leave by Mumbai's King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital after ordering an inquiry into her remarks, which sparked backlash on social media.

Dr Kalra said Dr Pawar's remarks were 'very wrong' and 'objectifying a body on the basis of size doesn't seem to be right.'

The AIMSA member warned that the statements send across the 'wrong message to society,' and that the humans agreeing to donate their body will not do that in future.

KEM hospital has constituted a five-member committee to decide upon a final course of action, and Dr Pawar will be counselled in her parents' or guardian's presence.
