Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh Resigns Amidst Political Uncertainty

N. Biren Singh submitted his resignation letter to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today, stepping down as Chief Minister of Manipur. His resignation comes amid ongoing political developments, months of unrest, and internal party politics in the state. Singh led the BJP government in Manipur since 2017 and was the first-ever BJP Chief Minister in the state.

Before submitting his resignation, Singh met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. Singh will serve as the caretaker Chief Minister until a new leader is sworn in or the 12th sitting Assembly Session commences tomorrow.

It remains unclear whether a new leader will be sworn in before the Assembly Session or if Singh will continue as caretaker CM.
