Pralhad Joshi's Recent Visit to Tripura Highlights Success of PM-KUSUM Scheme and Renewable Energy Initiatives

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, recently visited Charilam village in Sepahijala district of Tripura to oversee a renewable energy project.

 The project, undertaken by the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA), aims to provide farmers with a steady water supply and reduce costs.

Under the PM-KUSUM Scheme, farmers in Tripura have benefited from this initiative for over four years, resulting in increased vegetable and paddy yields, and doubled incomes. The scheme has brought prosperity and hope to the region, with 27 solar-powered pumps covering 54 acres of land and 35 LED-based solar street lighting systems installed.

These initiatives have enabled double cropping, resulting in double income for farmers.The Centre has approved a Private Enterprise Guarantee (PEG) scheme to enhance storage space in North Eastern States, aiming to double FCI's storage capacity in Tripura.India is providing free food grains to 81 crore people under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, extended till December 31, 2028.

During his visit, Joshi reviewed the Ministry's activities in the area and met with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to discuss key central schemes. He also visited the Food Corporation of India (FCI) office and state godowns to take stock of the current situation, particularly in terms of food grain storage and distribution.

Joshi's visit highlighted the government's focus on renewable energy, farmers' welfare, and food security. As Union Minister, Pralhad Joshi has been instrumental in driving these initiatives forward, ensuring a brighter future for the people of Tripura and the country as a whole.
