The National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 exam amid allegations of paper leak, prompting actor Kamal Haasan to demand protection for Indian students from the 'NEET mafia'. The exam was held on May 3 for 22 lakh students, but the government has asked the CBI to investigate the 'irregularities'.
Kamal Haasan took to X to express his outrage, saying that the hard work and dreams of 22 lakh students have been shattered by criminal conspiracies. He questioned who would take responsibility for the mental agony caused to the students.
The NTA has decided to re-conduct the examination on dates to be notified separately, citing the need to maintain transparency and preserve trust in the national examination system.
The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has demanded a time-bound probe and strict accountability of those behind the alleged leak. Students protested in Delhi, holding placards and raising slogans against the cancellation.
