Cocktail 2, starring Rashmika Mandanna, Shahid Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, has surpassed the lifetime haul of the 2012 hit Cocktail in just 9 days. Despite mixed reviews, the film took a strong start at the box office but has seen a dip in its collection since the opening weekend. The film collected ₹4.25 crore net in India on its ninth day from 3,338 shows, taking its total India net collection to ₹78.75 crore and India gross to ₹93.97 crore.
The film's collections since Monday have shown a steady decline, with the second Saturday not bringing the expected jump. The second week has not shown signs of recovery, with the film collecting ₹4.25 crore on its second Friday and early estimates putting its second Saturday earnings at ₹2.89 crore.
The slowdown appears to be due to audience response, with mixed-to-negative reviews and average word of mouth affecting its hold at the box office. The film is also facing competition from other releases and has seen a sharp reduction in its screen count.
Despite the recent slowdown, Cocktail 2 has collected ₹77.64 crore net and ₹92.58 crore gross in India so far. The ₹100 crore net milestone is still achievable, but the film now has to cover another ₹22.36 crore.
