Actor Ram Charan has shared details about his conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which took place during a meeting in Delhi last year. The conversation centered around cinema and the changing face of India, with PM Modi expressing curiosity about Ram's upcoming sports drama Peddi.
Ram revealed that PM Modi asked him about the film, to which he explained that it's about an evolved India and empowering villages. The Prime Minister then shared a story from West Bengal about a footballer from a small village who represented India, and how today over 85 people from that same village play football.
Ram also spoke about the importance of films made in the South, which are deeply rooted in culture and soil, and not city-based. He mentioned that the archery team in India has many tribal players due to their natural talent.
Peddi, starring Ram and Janhvi Kapoor, is a sports drama that traces a man's search for identity through sport. The film will be released in theatres on June 4.
