Actor Simran has praised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay for his courtesy call on former CM MK Stalin, calling it a 'true representation of Tamil Nadu's democratic spirit'. The meeting marked Vijay's first interaction with Stalin after winning the Assembly elections and assuming office as chief minister.
Stalin and his son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, extended a warm welcome to the new chief minister. Vijay and Stalin honoured each other with silk shawls and a bouquet, while Udhayanidhi presented a book on the historic political journey of the DMK.
The meeting comes after an acrimonious electoral battle between DMK and Vijay's TVK ahead of the April 23 polls, which the latter won. Stalin had previously congratulated Vijay and welcomed his announcements, but also cautioned him against making false promises to the people.
