Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and actor Vijay has been facing criticism from within his own party. A member of his party, Ranjana Nachiyar, has slammed Vijay's remarks and said that he should first respect his own family before making promises for women.

Vijay has been in the news for his personal life, including his wife Sangeeta Sornalingam filing for separation after 25 years of marriage. He was recently seen with actress Trisha Krishnan at a public event, which fueled online chatter. Despite this, Vijay has continued to campaign for his party, making promises at the International Women's Day event in Mamallapuram.
