Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has rejected the US proposal for joining the Abraham Accords, citing the country's fundamental ideologies.

Asif stated that Pakistan cannot join any accord that clashes with its core values, particularly with regards to Israel, which he questioned as a trustworthy partner.

The minister also highlighted that Pakistan is the only country whose passports do not include Israel's name, further emphasizing the country's stance.

The US had urged Pakistan and other West Asian countries to join the Abraham Accords, which aim to normalize diplomatic, economic, and security relations between Israel and several Arab nations.

Pakistan has long opposed normalisation with Israel, with its foreign minister Ishaq Dar stating that recognition of Israel is contingent on the establishment of a viable Palestinian state.
