US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth praised an unexpected true friendship developing between Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and country's army chief field marshal Asim Munir during the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
Hegseth credited Donald Trump for brokering peace between India and Pakistan in May last year and highlighted growing defence cooperation between the US and India.
He noted that both India and Pakistan would continue to see each other through the prism of security concerns but emphasized that the US is not pointing a finger at either country as a threat.
Hegseth also praised India's contributions to international stability and its growing military and industrial capabilities, describing the country as an increasingly important security partner in the Indo-Pacific.
