Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab - In a major security boost for the annual Shaheedi Sabha, the Punjab Police has deployed over 3,400 personnel to ensure a smooth and secure experience for devotees. The three-day event, held to honor Guru Gobind Singh's younger sons and their grandmother, commenced at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on Thursday. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav reviewed the security plan, accompanied by senior officials. The area has been divided into six sectors, with six superintendent rank officers and 24 deputy SP rank officers overseeing the event. To facilitate devotees, the police have designated 'no vehicle' zones, 22 parking locations, and arranged e-rickshaw, auto, and shuttle bus services. Google has collaborated with the police for real-time geo-tagging of parking locations, and directional signboards have been installed. For effective surveillance, six drones and 300 hi-tech CCTV cameras have been deployed to monitor crowd movement, traffic flow, and parking areas. Six integrated help desks have been set up, providing police assistance, medical aid, and fire services. An integrated control room, public assistance kiosks, special contingency response teams, and 24x7 surveillance through social media monitoring have been activated to prevent any untoward incidents. According to the DGP, the police's primary duty is to ensure the safety, comfort, and smooth movement of devotees, whom they will guide and facilitate with humility and dedication.
