The 44th Archives Week Celebration and Records Exhibition-2026 was organized by the Department of Art and Culture at the Manipur State Archives complex in Keishampat, Imphal West, highlighting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the state.
The programme was attended by Manipur’s Minister of Art and Culture, Shri Kh. Loken Singh, along with Secretary of the Department of Art and Culture, Shri N. Praveen Singh, and other officials and dignitaries.
As part of the event, the new Stack Room building of the Manipur State Archives was inaugurated. The facility is expected to strengthen the preservation and systematic storage of valuable historical documents and archival records.
A study programme focusing on ancient and endangered scripts was also launched during the celebration. The initiative aims to encourage research and greater awareness of traditional scripts that form an important part of Manipur’s historical legacy.
The event also witnessed the unveiling of the archival publication “Colonial Tour Records of Manipur,” providing valuable historical documentation related to the state’s past.
The celebration served as an important platform to showcase archival materials and underline the significance of preserving Manipur’s history for future generations. The exhibition also offered visitors an opportunity to explore records reflecting the state’s diverse heritage and historical journey.
