A heated altercation between a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district vice-president, Anju Bhargava, and a visually impaired woman at a church in Madhya Pradesh has sparked widespread outrage. The incident, captured on video, shows Bhargava shouting at the woman and questioning her decision to bring a young girl to the church. According to reports, the confrontation began when Bhargava alleged that visually impaired students were being forced into religious conversion. The BJP leader claimed that she had received information about irregularities in the programme and that some women wanted to leave due to alleged irregularities in the event's organisation. However, the visually impaired woman, who was accompanied by several right-wing organisations, disputed Bhargava's claims. The woman, who was part of a community outreach programme for Christmas, had been invited to the church along with students from a government-run hostel for a meal. As the altercation escalated, Bhargava was seen holding the woman's face and even alleging that she was assaulted during the confrontation. However, she did not file a police complaint, citing the woman's visual impairment. The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many users condemning Bhargava's behaviour and seeking accountability for her actions. The BJP has yet to respond to the incident, which has raised concerns about the party's stance on issues related to religious conversion and social welfare.
