The Congress has welcomed the US-Iran peace deal, but expressed concerns over Pakistan's growing influence and the need for a greater balance in India's foreign policy.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated that Pakistan's newfound influence, coupled with China's strategic partnership, poses a significant geopolitical challenge for India.
Ramesh emphasized that while the US-Iran agreement is a positive development, India's national interest demands a more balanced approach, particularly in light of its relations with Israel.
The Congress leader also highlighted the need to address structural issues affecting the Indian economy, including sluggish growth, stagnant real wages, and a record trade deficit.
Ramesh attributed these issues to the Modi government's failure to check imports from China, a vitiated investment climate, and unchecked powers given to tax authorities and investigative agencies.
