The Delhi High Court has dealt a setback to the Cockroach Janta Party by refusing to immediately restore its X account, citing 'slightly offensive' content.
The court, led by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, stated that the issue requires 'holistic consideration' and will hear submissions from the government and X platform before passing any order.
The Cockroach Janta Party, led by Abhijeet Dipke, had its X account withheld, coinciding with its rise on social media, surpassing a national party like the BJP on Instagram.
The party was launched as a satirical outfit but gained prominence among the Indian youth and Opposition parties recently.
The court presented Dipke with an opportunity to present his case before the Centre's review committee responsible for examining orders blocking social media accounts.
