The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has carried out fresh raids in Delhi on businessman Harpreet Singh Talwar alias Kabir Talwar and others in connection with the 2021 Mundra port drug bust.
The Mundra port drug bust in 2021 involved 2,988 kg of Afghan heroin worth ₹21,000 crore, one of the biggest consignments ever to come to India via maritime route.
Talwar was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in August 2022 and later charged for his role in a Pakistan-backed conspiracy to smuggle high-quality drugs into India.
The ED launched fresh raids based on certain fresh inputs, according to officials, and five premises were being searched in Delhi belonging to Talwar, Shamshudeen, and their associates.
It is alleged that the money generated through the smuggling of drugs was invested in nightclubs in Delhi, while the NIA found that the money generated through the drugs was meant for terrorists.
