Government Unveils Comprehensive Six-Point Strategy to Boost Farmers' Income, Enhance Agricultural Productivity
The government has devised a comprehensive six-point strategy to augment farmers' income, as announced by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the Lok Sabha.
This strategy encompasses Enhancing crop yields to boost farmers' earnings. Minimizing expenses associated with farming to increase profit margins. Guaranteeing farmers receive fair prices for their produce. Providing financial support to farmers affected by natural disasters.
Encouraging farmers to explore alternative crops and farming methods. Incentivizing eco-friendly farming practices to improve soil health and reduce chemical usage.
Additionally, the government is offering loans at low interest rates and subsidies for fertilizers and mechanized farming. In the previous year, farmers received a substantial subsidy of ₹2.14 lakh crore.
The government has also made record purchases at Minimum Support Price and distributed 24.60 crore soil health cards to help farmers determine suitable crops for their fields.
