United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor announced that an Indian delegation will visit Washington later this month to finalize a trade deal between India and the US.

The delegation, initially set to include Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will now attend the Parliament sessions for the introduction of bills to fast-track the implementation of 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

The India-US trade deal, announced on February 2, 2026, includes key takeaways such as the lowering of tariffs against India from 50% to 18% and a $500 billion investment from India for US energy products, aircraft, and technology products over the next five years.

The deal also focuses on India stopping its purchase of Russian oil and petroleum, with certain exceptions due to the war against Iran.
