Indian medical students in Bangladesh are facing a distressing situation due to rising anti-India sentiments in the country. The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene urgently to ensure their safety and well-being. In a letter, AIMSA expressed concern over the safety of students who are living in uncertain conditions, fearing for their security and well-being. The association emphasized that Indian students who pursue medical education abroad expect government support and protection during crises. AIMSA has requested Prime Minister Modi to coordinate with the Minister of External Affairs and Indian missions in Bangladesh to provide immediate protection to affected students. The association has also called for strengthened on-ground support and timely, clear communication to prevent panic and misinformation. The appeal comes amid heightened tensions in Bangladesh following a wave of protests and anti-India slogans sparked by last year's July Uprising, which led to the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The unrest intensified after the killing of Osman Hadi, a prominent figure in the uprising, who died in Singapore after being shot in Dhaka. Bangladesh's interim government has announced a national day of mourning, and protests have broken out in Dhaka, with supporters demanding justice. AIMSA has requested that the Indian government treat this matter as a top-priority emergency to safeguard the students' lives, dignity, and future.
