Indian President Droupadi Murmu Launches Bhartiya Kala Mahotsav to Promote Northeast Culture in Hyderabad

The first edition of Bhartiya Kala Mahotsav, a vibrant celebration of North Eastern India's rich cultural heritage, was inaugurated by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Hyderabad on September 28th 2024.

On this auspicious occasion, the Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma and the Union Minister of Cultural and tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the Governors of all the eight northeastern states, including the governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy were also present to attend this inaugural ceremony. On this Occasion the president said, it is a collective responsibility to promote the rich cultural heritage of the country. This eight-day festival, starting from September 29 to October 6, 2024, brings together the diverse artistic traditions of 8 north eastern state of India; Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

The Mahotsav aims to bridge the cultural gap between North Eastern State of India and the rest of the country, promoting mutual understanding and appreciation. President Murmu emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting India's rich cultural heritage, noting that it is our collective responsibility.

The Bhartiya Kala Mahotsav features an array of captivating performances, including:

·      Traditional Folk Dances.

·      Music Concerts: Showcasing local instruments.

·      Art Exhibitions: Displaying local handicrafts, textiles, and paintings

·      Cultural Exchange Programs: Encouraging interaction between artists and visitors

The festival provides a platform for artisans, artists, and communities from North Eastern India to showcase their talents, promoting cultural exchange and economic empowerment.

The Bhartiya Kala Mahotsav is open to the public from September 29 to October 6, 2024, between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Visitors can book slots online or avail of the on-spot booking facility.
