Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reiterated that any decision on a possible change in the state's leadership will be made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the party high command. In a press conference, Siddaramaiah stated that he has already communicated with the party leadership and is committed to their decision. The chief minister criticized the ongoing media focus on the issue, saying that he had already addressed the matter in the Assembly. Siddaramaiah also dismissed speculation about a 'political revolution' after Sankranti, emphasizing that the final call lies with the party leadership. Rumors of a possible power transfer have been fueled by meetings between senior Congress MLA K N Rajanna and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. However, Shivakumar maintains that he met Rajanna in his capacity as party president, and Rajanna has reiterated his support for Siddaramaiah. Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot has downplayed the power tussle, stating that both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar are working together like brothers. Pilot emphasized that the Karnataka government has functioned with integrity and dedication, fulfilling party promises. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has also sought to downplay speculation, saying that the confusion exists only at the local level and not within the party's central leadership. Kharge urged state leaders to take responsibility for resolving internal disputes rather than attributing them to the high command. The renewed statements come amid heightened political tension within the ruling Congress, following the government reaching the halfway mark of its 5-year term on November 20.
