Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has announced a major infrastructure boom in the northeast region, with eight new five-star hotels set to open in the next few years.
The region is 'daring to dream' in shaping its growth story, with the northeast today having the political will, policy, and thought process to grow, Sangma said.
A major FIFA-certified football stadium with a capacity of 40,000 is being built in Meghalaya, worth ₹800 crore investment, and the state is set to host the National Games next year.
The region has seen significant growth in recent years, with the budget growing twice as much in the last eight years, and capital expenditure growing six times.
The local airport in Shillong has reopened and will be able to start big commercial operations in the next 1-1.5 years.
