Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has criticized the Narendra Modi-led government for its silence on the Gaza crisis, calling it a betrayal of India's moral and national interests.

Gandhi argued that India's response to the conflict was against both its morality and national interest, citing the devastating impact of Israel's military campaign on Palestinian children and civilians.

She accused the Modi government of ignoring a report on the Gaza issue and highlighted the case of five-year-old Hind Rajab, whose death during the Gaza war drew global attention.

Gandhi also criticized the delay in clearing a film on Hind Rajab's story in India, saying it was blocked to defer to Israel's sensitivities.

She questioned the strategic consequences of India's approach towards Israel, arguing that New Delhi was moving closer to Israel at a time when global opinion was shifting.

Gandhi concluded her piece by saying that the spirit of Indian nationhood demands that India speak up for its Palestinian brothers and sisters, and that the government's continued silence simply cannot be explained rationally or morally.
