Heavy rain is likely in 15 districts of Tamil Nadu from Sunday, as the southwest monsoon remains active, IMD said.
The Regional Meteorological Centre reported that heavy rain is expected in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Kanyakumari, and other districts from Sunday.
In the northern parts of Tamil Nadu, heavy rain is predicted for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts during the same period.
The Met Office also warned of squally wind with speed 45-55 kmph over some parts of the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal from June 29.
Maximum temperatures are expected to be near normal from Saturday to June 30 over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal area.
Chennai and its suburbs can expect moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning on Saturday.
