The Tamil Nadu government has appointed Venkata Narayana K as its special representative in New Delhi for a year, sparking sharp criticism from the opposition DMK and BJP.

Narayana, a producer from Karnataka, was chosen for the position despite his lack of connection to Tamil Nadu, raising questions about his ability to represent the state's interests in the capital.

DMK deputy general secretary 'Tiruchi' Siva questioned whether Narayana would stand up for Tamil Nadu's interests, particularly on the Mekedatu dam issue, while BJP Tamil Nadu chief Nainar Nagendhran termed the appointment a 'great shock' and raised concerns about Narayana's ability to understand Tamil culture and echo the thoughts of the Tamil people.
