Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar announced plans to conduct a social justice survey after the 2027 caste census, with the goal of securing the state's fair share of central taxes.

Addressing the state assembly, Arlekar stated that the survey will be conducted after the completion of the caste enumeration, which will be carried out in conjunction with the ongoing census.

The governor also announced that the state government will pass a resolution demanding the state's due share of financial devolution from the taxes contributed to the Centre.

A special legal committee will be constituted to pursue the issue up to the Supreme Court, with the aim of securing fair financial devolution.

Additionally, the state government will publish a report detailing the Centre's 'discriminatory approach' towards the financial devolution for Tamil Nadu.
