Assam police arrested two ULFA-I operatives in Tinsukia district, foiling a plot to carry out indiscriminate firing and grenade attacks.

The duo, identified as Humenjyoti Baruah and Papu Moran, were arrested during a joint operation by Tinsukia police and central intelligence agencies.

Police recovered two AK-56 rifles, 172 rounds of live ammunition, two hand grenades, and other logistical materials during the operation.

The two men had been active members of the outfit since 2018 and were involved in several major insurgency-related incidents.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the law, and the accused remain in police custody for further investigation.
