Union Minister Bhagirath Choudhary is at the center of a controversy after it was revealed that he received ₹99.6 lakh in subsidy from his own ministry. Choudhary, a Minister of State in the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, has denied any wrongdoing, stating that he received the government aid like thousands of other farmers.

However, opposition parties have attacked the minister, calling it a 'conflict of interest' and accusing the BJP of hypocrisy regarding corruption. The Congress has alleged that Choudhary was 'the applicant, the sanctioning authority, and the beneficiary--all rolled into one.'

The controversy has also highlighted the issue of conflict of interest in the NDA government, with former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot calling it a 'new model of corruption.'

It has also been reported that the family members of a senior IAS officer, including his mother, wife, and son, received over ₹1.16 crore in subsidies across five years under the same scheme.
