The Tripura State Power Department has launched a major initiative aimed at promoting clean and sustainable energy across the state, with an ambitious target of generating 1,000 MW of solar and renewable energy by 2035.
The new programme, titled the ‘Tripura Clean Energy Roadmap,’ was inaugurated in Agartala on Thursday by State Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath. Representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), along with senior officials of the Power Department, attended the programme.
Speaking at the event, Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted the government’s commitment to developing an environmentally friendly energy system in Tripura. He said increasing the use of solar power and other renewable energy sources would play a crucial role in reducing dependence on conventional energy and ensuring a cleaner future for the state.
The roadmap is expected to provide a structured framework for expanding renewable energy infrastructure, encouraging solar power generation and supporting sustainable development.
The initiative marks an important step towards Tripura’s long-term clean energy goals. With coordinated efforts from the government, development partners and stakeholders, the state aims to strengthen its renewable energy capacity and move towards a greener and more eco-friendly energy system by 2035.
