Chennai, India - France, last year's silver medalist, has secured a direct quarterfinal berth in the FIH Men's Junior World Cup after defeating Bangladesh 3-2 in a thrilling match on Tuesday. The French team, which had already won all three matches in Pool F, showcased their unbeatable form and topped the group with a maximum of nine points. The match was filled with intense action as France dominated the proceedings, securing a penalty stroke in the seventh minute, which Tom Gaillard successfully converted. However, Bangladesh fought hard to stay in the game, drawing level at 1-1 in the 28th minute with a field goal by Md Abdullah. The second half saw France regain their lead with two quick field goals, but Bangladesh refused to give up. They secured two penalty corners in the final minutes of the match, and Amirul Islam converted the second chance to narrow the margin to 3-2. Meanwhile, Chile registered a consolation win in Pool B, defeating Oman 2-0. Felipe Duisberg and Tomas Taborga scored two penalty corners for Chile in the inconsequential match.
