In a nail-biting finish, Kites secured their inaugural World Tennis League (WTL) title on Saturday, with Dhakshineswar Suresh clinching a hard-fought victory over Sumit Nagal of Eagles in the men's singles tie-break. The final score stood at 21-19 in favor of Kites at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium. Suresh and Nagal initially locked horns with the scores tied at 15-15, before Suresh took a 15-13 lead for Kites. The two players displayed impressive skills, with Suresh delivering trademark big serves and powerful forehands, while Nagal countered with precise angles. The tie-break saw Nagal take an early lead, but Suresh staged a remarkable comeback, taking a 5-4 advantage. His strong serve proved decisive, securing the set and match with ease. The win marked sweet revenge for Suresh, who had previously lost to Nagal in a tie-break during the group stage. "I studied that tie-break, and I'm glad I could do better this time," Suresh said after the match, dedicating the win to his father, who was in attendance. "He had sacrificed a lot for me, quitting his job and traveling with me. I'm delighted to make him proud today.
