Tennis superstar Serena Williams has sparked a frenzy with her surprise re-entry into the tennis anti-doping testing pool, fueling speculation about a potential comeback to the sport she dominated for nearly two decades. However, Williams has swiftly denied any plans to return to the court, saying on social media, 'I'm NOT coming back.' According to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), Williams, 44, is among the list of players required to provide their whereabouts at all times and undergo random testing. Her agent has not commented on why she re-entered the testing pool. Williams' name appears on the ITIA website's list of retired players, but she can return to competition after six months of making herself available for out-of-competition testing. The news of her re-entry into the testing pool comes after Williams posted photos on Instagram of herself playing tennis with her youngest daughter, Adira River, in August. In 2022, Williams announced her retirement from tennis in a Vogue article, stating she was 'evolving away from tennis.' The American, who last won a Grand Slam singles title in 2017, had been chasing an elusive 24th crown that would have drawn her level with Australian Margaret Court, who holds the record.
