Golfing legend Tiger Woods has made his first public appearance since undergoing lumbar disc replacement surgery six weeks ago. At the Hero World Challenge, Woods revealed that he has started chipping and putting, but has no set timeline for a comeback. Woods, a 15-time major champion, is aware that his recovery will be a long and arduous process. He explained that a disc replacement takes time, which is different from his previous fusion procedures. The golfing icon's last competitive outing was the Open Championship in July, and he is now focused on regaining his swing speed and explosive power. Woods stated that he needs time to assess his back and body before deciding on his tournament schedule. Woods also addressed speculation about his potential captaincy of the Ryder Cup in 2027. While he neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, he did say that no one has asked him about it. The Hero World Challenge, which benefits Woods' foundation, is currently underway at Albany. Woods expressed his excitement to be back hosting the event and seeing his fellow golfers. Woods has been through this rehab process before and knows the importance of taking it one step at a time. He is currently lifting in the gym and working on his chipping and putting skills. As he progresses, he will reassess his schedule and decide which tournaments he can participate in.
