Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that his country is prepared for war if European leaders continue to push for peace terms that Russia finds unacceptable. Putin made the statement ahead of a crucial meeting in Moscow with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are seeking to end the nearly four-year-old Ukraine conflict. In a press conference, Putin claimed that European governments are undermining US-led efforts to secure a peace deal, saying they have a 'peaceful agenda'. However, he accused them of obstructing Washington's attempts to secure a settlement. The Russian President specifically criticized European-proposed amendments to the US peace draft, saying they aim to block the entire peace process. The US has circulated a 28-point draft plan to end the conflict, which was revised after objections from Kyiv and European capitals. European leaders have repeatedly emphasized that no 'unfair peace' should be imposed on Ukraine, warning that Kyiv must not be pressured into accepting terms favourable to Russia. The meeting between Putin, Witkoff, and Kushner is seen as a crucial step towards ending the conflict, but the Russian President's warning of war has added a new layer of complexity to the negotiations.
