Sri Lanka is reeling from the devastating effects of Cyclone Ditwah, which has left a trail of destruction and claimed 465 lives since November 16. The island nation is bracing for further worsening conditions as a special weather bulletin issued by the Department of Meteorology predicts 'enhanced' rainfall in several regions from Thursday. The cyclone has triggered widespread flooding, landslides, and infrastructure collapse, isolating several districts and straining the country's disaster-response capacity. A report by the Disaster Management Centre confirmed 465 deaths and 366 missing persons. Meanwhile, international aid is pouring in, with India launching Operation Sagar Bandhu on November 28 to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to the affected areas. Since then, India has delivered 53 tonnes of relief material to Sri Lanka via air and sea. As the island nation struggles to recover, the public is advised to stay vigilant and follow future forecasts and bulletins for the latest updates.
