A 25-year-old University of Delaware student, Luqmaan Khan, was arrested on November 24 for allegedly planning an attack on campus. According to the Newcastle County Police Department, Khan was stopped at a traffic stop in Canby Park West, Delaware, and found with a firearm, ammunition, and an armored ballistic plate in his white Toyota Tacoma. A search of his vehicle and home uncovered a cache of weapons and tactical gear, including a loaded .357 Glock and a notebook containing handwritten notes that described additional weapons and potential targets. The notebook also mentioned a University of Delaware police officer by name and included a sketched building layout marked with entry and exit routes. Khan has been charged with several felony weapon charges and has been handed over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for further investigation into his motive and links. The University of Delaware has banned Khan from campus until the investigation is completed. "We have been working closely with law enforcement throughout this matter and are sharing this information with you now that we have been cleared to do so," said Laura Carlson, University of Delaware's interim president. The university has temporarily separated the student from the campus, including a ban from all UD campuses while legal matters are being resolved.
