Tripura University : Introduces Lenient Policy for UG Students
Tripura University has amended 2 new regulations. The first amendments, as per the policy is all the candidate of Under Graduate Program will be advance to the next semester till the completion of the 5th semester without any failure or conditions. The students who fail in two or more subject shall also be promoted and is eligible to appear to the next semester. Additionally, students who are unable to appear for examinations due to medical conditions will also be eligible for promotion. This provision ensures that students facing health issues can continue their studies without undue stress. However, to be eligible to appear for the 6th semester examination, students must meet a crucial criterion. They must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in six major papers across the 1st to 5th semester examinations.
The second amendment is that the admission process for undergraduate programs has been streamlined, and eligibility criteria have been clearly outlined. Candidates who have successfully passed their H.S (12+) Higher Secondary examinations from any recognised Board or Council are invited to apply for admission to undergraduate programs or other courses governed by this rule through the admission process of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) or Directorate of Higher Education Government of Tripura. Prospective students must also note that there is a crucial eligibility requirement. No student will be allowed to take admission in the 1st semester of undergraduate studies if there is a gap of five years or more since passing their previous course.
Tripura University has made a significant amendment to its undergraduate program regulations, effective from the 2023-2024 session. This change is in line with the National Education Policy 2020 and is exercised through the provisions of Clause 14 of the Tripura University Act 2006.
CM of Tripura has captioned these amendments saying “I welcome this decision of the two Universities and hope it will definitely boost up the students’ enthusiasm for pursuing higher education”.
