Thanga Darlong, the venerable Indian folk music maestro breathed his last on December 3rd 2023, at his residence in Muraibari(Tripura). Born on July 20th 1920. Darlong illustrious career was punctuated by numerous accolades, including the prestigious Padma Shri in 2019, Vayoshresta Samman in 2016, Academic Fellowship Award in 2015, and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2014.
Renowned for his exceptional contributions to Tripura folk music. Darlong played a pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting the traditional instrument Rosem.
