The espionage thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, has been a massive hit at the box office since its release on December 5, 2025. The film has now officially crossed the ₹1,100 crore mark, surpassing the collections of notable films like Pathaan and Jawan. However, its success has been marred by controversy due to its perceived political undertones, with some labeling it propaganda. In a surprise move, the makers have released a revised version of the film, which is set to hit theaters today, January 1, 2026. According to sources, the changes were made at the behest of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India, which directed the makers to mute two words and alter a dialogue in the film. Industry insiders have revealed that one of the words removed from the revised version is 'Baloch.' The changes were reportedly made in response to an urgent email sent to cinema halls across the nation on December 31, 2025, instructing them to replace the film's Digital Cinema Package (DCP). Despite the controversy, Dhurandhar has continued to break box office records, with collections exceeding ₹720 crore in India alone by its 27th day. The film's success has placed Ranveer Singh in an elite category of actors, with his portrayal of an Indian spy resonating deeply with domestic audiences. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, boasts a powerful cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. The franchise is set to continue with the release of the next part on March 19, 2026.
