The Heirloom Hotel in Laurel, Mississippi was set to be a crown jewel in the town's revival, but a fire tore through the building, leaving its future uncertain.
A fire broke out at the hotel on August 26, 2025, with firefighters battling the blaze for hours. The cause was determined to be an accidental electrical issue.
Erin Napier, 39, shared the news on Instagram, posting an image of the smoke-filled hotel. She and her renovation partners had just completed the hotel the week before.
As of May 2026, Erin told a fan that there is 'nothing but waiting now to see what happens with insurance.' A firm timeline for repairs or reopening has not been announced.
Despite the fire, the hotel team intends to rebuild, saying 'there is history here worth preserving, a story still unfolding, and a town we love too much to give up on.'
The project was featured in HGTV's four-part series Home Town: Inn This Together, which aired as planned despite the fire.
