Malayalam actor Swasika has finally returned to India after being stranded in Abu Dhabi due to the escalating US-Iran conflict. She landed in Kochi on Wednesday, after a three-day ordeal. Speaking to reporters at the Cochin International Airport, Swasika revealed that there was no 'heavy panic situation' in Abu Dhabi, but acknowledged that as a foreigner, she did feel some panic. Her husband, actor Prem Jacob, was not with her, which he said would have made her feel calmer.
Swasika expressed gratitude to the travel agency that supported her in booking her flight back to India. She had been in Abu Dhabi for three days, and was supposed to return on February 28. Despite the tense situation, she said that everything was under control, and the flight was okay.
Swasika's return comes as the US-Iran conflict continues to escalate, with the United States and Israel launching strikes on Iran on Saturday. Iran has responded with retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and a US military facility in Bahrain. Explosions have been reported in several countries in the region, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, and Kuwait.
The conflict has brought the West Asia region to the brink of an all-out war, with flight operations at several airports impacted. At least 87 international flights were cancelled, and over 200 flights were delayed amid airspace restrictions in the region.
