Ranveer Singh's latest film, Dhurandhar, has made history by becoming the highest-grossing Bollywood film in North America, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan with a collection of $17.50 million. According to Sacnilk, Dhurandhar achieved this feat by the end of its fourth Tuesday, leaving Pathaan's collection of $17.49 million behind. Despite this success, Dhurandhar still ranks third in the highest-grossing Indian films in North America, behind Kalki 2898 AD and Baahubali 2. However, the film's distributor, Parnab Kapadia, revealed that Dhurandhar suffered a significant financial loss of at least $10 million due to its ban in several Gulf countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, as well as Pakistan. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a spy action thriller that tells the story of an Indian spy infiltrating Karachi's underworld in Pakistan. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, Dhurandhar has become a commercial success, thanks to strong word-of-mouth among audiences. The film has collected over ₹1,100 crore worldwide and continues to perform well at the box office.
