Renowned filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has come out in support of Aditya Dhar's spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna. Defending the film against claims of propaganda, Mishra praised Dhar's casting choices and direction, calling him 'extremely skilled.' The filmmaker also urged his peers to create a powerful film that counters Dhurandhar's perceived message. Mishra took to social media to express his admiration for Dhar's work, highlighting the film's ability to transport audiences to its setting. He commended the director and his team for their efforts, stating that Dhurandhar is 'a well-made film.' The film, which has grossed over ₹700 crore in India and ₹1117 crore worldwide, tells the story of an Indian spy infiltrating Karachi's underworld in Pakistan, weaving together real-life events such as the 1999 IC-814 hijacking and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. Dhurandhar's sequel is set to release on March 19, 2026, and will compete with Yash's Toxic for box office attention. Mishra's comments have sparked a debate among filmmakers and critics, with some questioning the role of cinema in shaping public opinion and others calling for more nuanced storytelling.
