Malayalam actor Venkitesh VP has raised concerns over the severe water scarcity in Trivandrum, Kerala. In a recent Instagram video, he spoke to residents in his locality, Fort Ward, who have been facing water shortages for months.

Residents shared their struggles, including receiving water supply only at midnight for six months and now facing an even worse situation with no water supply at all. Venkitesh urged authorities to take action and provide a solution to the crisis.

The issue affects not just Fort Ward, but 13 other wards in Trivandrum. Venkitesh also pointed out that nearby areas like Sreevaraham, Sreekandeswaram, Manacaud, Kamaleswaram, and Vallakkadavu are also affected.

Kerala Minister Sunny Joseph attributed the low water levels to weather conditions and the impact of El Niño, with reservoir levels dropping from 47% in June 2025 to 21% this year.
