Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy: 18th State-based Wangala Festival Inaugurated
The 18th state-based Wangala festival the main festival of the Garo community was inaugurated at Udaipur Natintila on Friday. The event was organized under the joint initiative of the Gomti District Administration, Tripura Garo Union, and the Department of Information and Culture. Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy highlighted the significance of festivals as gatherings emphasizing Wangala central role in the Garo community.
During the inauguration Minister Sri Roy conveyed the government commitment to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the people. He underscored ongoing efforts for the comprehensive development of the Janajatiya area under the leadership of the state Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha.
"The government is dedicated to the development of the culture and traditions of our people. Led by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha, we are actively working towards the overall progress of the Janjatiya(Tiprasa) area" stated Minister Sri Roy.
The Wangala festival holds immense cultural significance for the Garo community as it involves the worship of tribal gods and the celebration of the harvest by bringing in new crops. The Finance Minister acknowledged the role of festivals like Wangala in fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride among the people.
Prominent social workers including Birendra Tripura, Jogendra Debbarma, Debal Debrai, and others, graced the occasion. Their presence underscored the community collective commitment to preserving and celebrating their cultural identity.
