Savitha Shan, 24, has been identified as one of the two victims killed in Sunday morning's mass shooting at Buford's on West Sixth Street in Austin, Texas. The other victim, 22-year-old Ryder Harrington, was a student at Texas Tech University and a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity chapter.

The suspect, 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, was shot and killed by officers at the scene. Diagne, a US citizen, had no known criminal history but was arrested in Texas in 2022 in connection with a vehicle collision.

A fundraiser has been launched by the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation to support Shan's family, with plans to honor both victims with a memorial and dedicated trees in the Sam Houston National Forest.

At least 14 people were injured in the shooting, with three in critical condition. The FBI executed a search warrant linked to the shooting at an apartment complex, indicating potential terrorism indicators.
