Though a top celebrity lawyer, Blair Berk has little murder defense experience; her notable case, Monica Sementilli, ended in a 2025 conviction.

Singer D4vd, whose real name is Anthony David Burke, was arrested in Los Angeles on April 16 in connection with the death of 16-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Despite having a strong team of attorneys, including high-profile celebrity Hollywood attorney Blair Berk, concerns have been raised about a key experience gap in Berk's legal career.

Berk has represented several celebrities in high-profile cases, but has very little experience in defending murder suspects. Her only notable murder case was the 2017 case of Monica Sementilli, who was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in April 2025.

D4vd is expected to be produced at the office of District Attorney Nathan Hochman on Monday and is currently in prison. The case has proven challenging for the LAPD, as the state in which the body was found prevented the LA County coroner from accurately identifying the cause of death.
