The FBI has intervened to clarify reports of newly found DNA evidence in the Nancy Guthrie case, stating that the claims are not 'new'. The agency received and is analyzing DNA samples from Guthrie's home in Tucson, Arizona, which were initially sent to a private lab instead of the FBI's lab.

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC's 'Today' show anchor Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing on February 1, 2026, after her family members checked on her due to her absence from a church service. Authorities believe she was likely kidnapped in the early morning hours.

More than two and a half months have passed since the investigation commenced, yet no suspects have been identified. DNA analysis may play a crucial role in the investigation, according to a former CIA officer, who stated that the information is necessary to rule people in or out.
