Israel has stated that Iran's Naval Commander Alireza Tangsiri has been killed in a strike, but Iran has yet to confirm the news.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the strike was a 'message' to Iran's Guards, and that Israel would continue operations in Iran 'with full force' to achieve its war aims.

Earlier, an Israeli official told Times of Israel that Tangsiri was killed in a strike in Bandar Abbas, and that it was Tangsiri who was responsible for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Several explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, on Thursday, the Hormozgan governor's office said, as reported by Iran International.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video address that the IDF had eliminated the Commander of the IRGC Navy, and that it was a 'great example of the cooperation between us and our friend, the United States, toward the common goal of achieving the objectives of the war.'

Alongside Tangsiri, the IDF has also claimed to have eliminated the Head of the IRGC Navy Intelligence Directorate, Behnam Rezaei.

An official statement from Iran for the same is awaited.
