As the search for missing Nancy Guthrie continues, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is facing a probe over allegations of resume discrepancies.
Nanos, who is leading the investigation into Guthrie's disappearance, has been accused of misrepresenting details on his resume before taking office.
According to records reviewed by The Arizona Republic, Nanos was suspended eight times during his time with the El Paso Police Department in Texas between 1976 and 1982, resulting in 37 days off duty.
The suspensions were linked to allegations including use of force, illegal gambling, insubordination, and dereliction of duty.
Nanos' resume also states that he remained with the El Paso Police Department until 1984, but records indicate he resigned in 1982 to avoid termination.
Additionally, there are discrepancies in his promotion to captain in Pima County, with his resume listing 2007 and official records indicating 2009.
Nanos' attorney has defended him, stating that his past actions are unrelated to his performance as sheriff.
